You describe your ideal trade show booth, and AI creates an impressive image. The layout looks inviting, the graphics feel polished, and you can already picture your team welcoming visitors.

That image can be a helpful starting point. But there is an important difference between a concept that looks finished and a display that is ready to order or print.

‍At MODdisplays, we are seeing two common challenges: AI-generated booth configurations that do not translate into available products, and AI-generated artwork that is not suitable for large-format printing. Neither means you need to abandon your ideas. It means there are a few practical steps between inspiration and your finished display.

‍Planning ahead matters: When MODdisplays needs to create your display artwork, our design service has a $250 flat fee, and you should allow a minimum of seven business days for the design process once we have the required materials. Production and shipping time are additional.

‍Understanding these requirements early can help you avoid unexpected costs, missing artwork, and a last-minute scramble before your event.

AI can be useful for exploring how you want your booth to look and feel. It can help you communicate preferences for an open layout, backlit graphics, a presentation area, or a particular visual style.

However, an AI-generated image is not necessarily based on a specific display system or a configuration that can actually be purchased.

A concept might show a combination of wall shapes, lighting, shelving, and monitor mounts that looks convincing but does not exist within one compatible product line. It may also show proportions that do not accurately represent the booth size you requested.

For example, asking AI for a “10 x 10 trade show booth with a backlit wall, shelving, a large monitor, and seating” does not establish that everything pictured will fit within that space or work together as shown.

‍A realistic-looking image is not confirmation of real-world dimensions, compatible hardware, or product availability.

Rather than treating the image as a finished shopping list, use it to explain your priorities.

Is it the illuminated backdrop that appeals to you? The prominent logo? The open floor space? The way products are displayed?

Share the image with our team, along with your booth dimensions, budget, must-have features, and event deadline. We can help identify practical display options that reflect your priorities, even when the exact configuration in the image is not available.

The goal is to preserve what makes the concept appealing while building your plans around actual products.

Before presenting an AI-generated booth to your team as the final configuration, have the equipment and dimensions reviewed. It is much easier to adjust a concept before everyone becomes attached to details that may not be achievable.

The second challenge involves the graphics printed on the display.

An image can look sharp on a laptop and still lack the detail needed when enlarged across an entire booth wall. What matters is not simply how the image looks on screen, but its resolution at the size it will actually be printed. Pixel-based images can become visibly blurry or pixelated as they are enlarged.

‍AI-generated artwork needs to meet the same production requirements as artwork created through any other process. Three issues are especially important.

A general rectangular image is not necessarily the correct shape or size for your display.

Each product has its own artwork template. The design must account for the required dimensions, background bleed, and designated areas for important content. MODdisplays provides product-specific templates and requires artwork to be prepared accordingly.

A design created before choosing the hardware may need substantial layout changes. Simply stretching or cropping the image may remove important content or change the look you liked in the first place.Choose your display and confirm its templates before treating any design as final.

Labels such as “high resolution” or “print quality” are not enough on their own. The file’s actual pixel dimensions and its intended printed size determine the available image detail. Changing a resolution setting is different from adding pixels through resampling.

Do not assume that requesting a larger version from an AI tool, changing the file format, or increasing a resolution number has solved every print-quality issue. Have the actual file reviewed before relying on it for your display.

When a design arrives as one flattened image, the logo, text, photographs, and background are not necessarily available as separate, editable components. MODdisplays’ artwork guidelines note that modifications to flattened image formats are limited.

‍This becomes a problem when a logo needs to be enlarged, wording needs to change, or the composition needs to fit a different template. A small reference image does not provide the clean, high-resolution source files needed to make those changes properly.

‍The question is not simply whether AI was used. The question is whether the resulting artwork meets the requirements of the display being produced.

An AI concept can still be valuable even when the artwork itself cannot be printed.

Our designers can use it to understand the direction you like, including the overall mood, color palette, layout, and balance between imagery and text. From there, we can develop artwork using your branding, supplied content, and suitable imagery.

MODdisplays has an experienced in-house design team, and we can help find images through our stock photography library. You do not need to arrive with a completely finished design to create a professional-looking display.

‍However, our design service is not a promise to duplicate every detail of an AI-generated image.

‍A specific scene, illustration, or visual effect in your reference may not have an equivalent stock image. We may need to use different imagery or take the layout in a different direction. Our graphic design service also does not include custom company branding or photo manipulation.

‍That does not mean settling for a lesser result. It means developing a design around usable artwork, your actual brand, and the requirements of your selected display.

Treat the AI image as a conversation starter rather than an exact reproduction target.

Even when MODdisplays handles the design, we need the building blocks of your brand. Gathering these early is one of the best ways to keep your project moving.

‍Your original logo files. Please provide your logo separately, not just as it appears inside the AI concept. Original vector artwork, such as an Adobe Illustrator file, EPS file, or PDF containing vector artwork, is preferable because vector graphics can scale without losing sharpness. A screenshot or small website image is not an equivalent substitute.

‍High-resolution photographs and other required artwork. Send the original files for any specific products, people, facilities, or other subjects that must appear in the design. When suitable images are not available, we can explore stock photography alternatives, but those alternatives may look different from the AI reference.

‍Final text and brand direction. Provide the approved headlines, supporting copy, contact information, and other wording you want included. Our role is to design your display graphics, not develop your marketing strategy or decide what your company should say. Brand guidelines and a brief explanation of what you like about the reference are also helpful.

Your marketing team, original logo designer, or agency may already have the files you need. Start gathering them while you are choosing your display, not after an artwork problem is discovered.

One of the biggest risks with AI-generated artwork is the assumption that the design work is already complete.

Consider this situation: Your event is approaching, you have selected a display, and you submit an AI-generated image expecting it to move directly into production. During review, it becomes clear that the image is too low-resolution and does not fit the template. A new layout is needed, but your original logo and usable photographs have not been gathered.

At that point, the project requires more than a quick file adjustment. It needs artwork collection, design, review, and approval before production can begin.

When our team needs to create or rebuild your display layout, MODdisplays offers graphic design for a $250 flat fee per order. Proofing artwork that is already print-ready and correctly set to our templates is free; creating a new design is a separate service.

‍For design assistance, plan for a minimum of seven business days once the required artwork elements, text, and project information have been received. Missing materials, additional revisions, or a more involved project can extend the schedule.

Those seven business days are not the complete order turnaround. Production and shipping must also fit into your timeline, and production begins after final artwork approval and payment.

‍The safest approach is to share your concept and actual artwork files early, explain when you need the finished display in hand, and confirm the full schedule with your sales representative.

AI can help you discover a direction you are excited about. You do not need to stop using it, and you do not need to discard a good idea because the first image is not production-ready.

The most effective approach is to use that image as inspiration, confirm a real display configuration, gather your original brand assets, and leave enough time to prepare the artwork properly.
